Being able to read is the golden key to success at school and in life. The ability to read provides motivation and builds self-confidence. Our vision is for all our children to develop a love of reading and become life-long readers through a fostered sense of reading.
Children allocated ELS books will have access to them via Oxford Owl.
Children on book bands also have access to online books via Oxford Owl.
The Oxford Owl free eBook Library contains a wide selection of books from across Oxford’s most popular series. The books are carefully levelled and progress in reading difficulty. Please see the next tab for access to Oxford Owl.
How does my child access the eBook Library?
V.I.P.E.R.S (Vocabulary, Inference, Predict, Explain, Retrieve and Summarise/Sequence) is an acronym to aid the recall of the 6 reading domains as part of the UK’s reading curriculum. They are the key areas which we feel children need to know and understand in order to improve their comprehension of texts. Please click here for the full guide with questions to support comprehension in Years 2-6.
