Rainbow Flag Award (LGBT)
The Rainbow Flag Award
The Rainbow Flag Award is a quality assurance framework for schools, primary and secondary. Through a process of self-assessment and ongoing monitoring and feedback, schools will determine how well they are providing safe and supportive environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) students, taking a whole school approach. This school year we are aiming to achieve all of the accreditations listed below as part of the Rainbow Flag Award.
In January 2023 we were awarded the first level of the acreditation: Skilled Teacher. In July 2023 we were then awarded the following further acreditation:Pastoral Support, Student Voice, and Supportive Governors and Parents

The award focusses on six key areas:
At Oswald Road we feel that it is our duty to equip our children with the knowledge and skills they will need for life in modern day Britain, which is why we are working towards achieving all areas of the award. We feel it is important to create a safe environment for any of our pupils, staff or families that may identify as LGBT and also provide positive education around LGBT topics.
